ENVIRONMENT, SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY
Trough the formulation of a strategy of predictive maintenance based on an innovative system technological that previews the development and the application of a new analytical model QNA (Quality Noise Analysis), to the thermographic, accelerometric and thermoelastic reliefs and integrated with the result of other techniques of monitoring (like analysis lubricating oil, electric current analysis, parameters of process), it will be possible to control and prevent eventual inefficiencies of the ship, with the aim to reduce the impact that the carrier has on sea and atmosphere, to increase the efficiency.
This strategy of maintenance “according to condition” was born from the ascertainment that the cyclical intervention of actual techniques of maintenance to time (strategy today commonly used in naval field), is often useless and make further risks of before nonexistent anomalies happenings, with possible inefficiencies of the own members replaced, causing bust and risks on the emergency of the ship and crew.
The main sources of information will be constituted from a series of measures and analyses that give appraisal elements, in a certain moment, on the state of the system or machine. If there are shifting from acceptable thought conditions of operation, it comes immediately evidenced a state of alarm that induces to more deepened analysis, waves to avoid the probable causes and to realize the necessary corrective actions in the residual time of good operation. In order to favour the reduction of the environmental impact during the exercise of the mercantile ships, the plan proposes to execute a modernization of all present technologies on the market, on the monitoring, reduction or discouragement of the polluting products in atmosphere and sea, that can serve to characterize the points for which it is possible to search and to introduce improvements and innovations. Such information will serve for the activity of planning of an innovative device for the washing of gas and the choice of the used methods of discouragement (additives and treatments of washing, open cycle or closed) that the plan aimed to introduce. In order to always reduce the environmental impact of the ships, it will be carried out a search for the application, in naval field, of special varnishing products catalytic photos made up of TiO, that will demonstrate the drastic reduction of the pollution from gas of drainage. The titanium dioxide powders, stabilized in matrices, like materials for finishes, can be used to obtain some product that can knock down polluting substances, like nitrogen oxides, the sulphur oxides, the volatile organic compounds and the carbon monoxide without some actions, if not that one of the sun. The plan will include also activity of search aimed at the reduction of the pollution of the sea, caused by the continuous release of painting particles of the common systems of protection of the bottom from the biofouling. In fact also the varnishes of last generation antifouling, employ chemicals made up of fluorine or silicones, therefore or they are highly injurious and polluting for the marine atmosphere or their fabrication needs industrial processes dangerous for the atmosphere. The search will explore the possibilities to realize organic-biological hybrid varnish field for the shipping to minimize the environmental impact.
